Saber Marionette J is an animated japanes serie (anime) about Otaru Mamiya, a boy who lives in Terra 2. He belongs to the hardworking class, but he is destinated to be Terra 2's savior. For this heavy task he has the help of 3 different marionettes. In his journal he goes meeting each marionette in different time. The first one is Lime, who is very innocent. Then Otaru Mamiya meets Cherry, who has a maternal personality. And the last one is Blodberry, extroverted and with a strong personality. The 3 of them have something special, the maiden circuit (otome kairo). This make them unique because they can learn from the human feelings. The reason because they have the maiden circuit (otome kairo) is that they must replace the only girl that is known, Lorelei, who is traped in a ship named Mesopotamia.
The back stage history is that a long time ago, 6 men where in the ship Mesopotamia, but a disaster amost killed them. The ship reveal against them and the only solution was given them the only woman there, Lorelei, and from that moment, she is the Mesopotamia's girlfriend. The men scaped to a planet that they named Terra 2, far away from the earth. They wanted to repoblate their new world, but they only could made men clones, this is why they create the maiden cirtuits and try to recover to Lorelei.
Lime, Cherry and Bloodberry are fall in love with Otaru and they want to like him and be his girlfriend. Otaru loves them all, they are everything that he has, and he has to fight for them and with them againts Faust and his 3 saber dolls (Tiger, Luchs and Panther). They also had maiden circuits.
